I am so sorry I haven't updated sooner. Ryan has changed so much since I last updated. It amazes me how much he changes each week and how big he has gotten. He is extremely alert now and curious about everything. He has begun investigating things with his mouth. He still hasn't figured out how to put his thumb in his mouth but instead he shoves his entire fist in there. He coos all day long and loves to "talk" to anyone who will listen. He has been grinning so much now and tries to laugh. He hasn't quite figured out the laughing thing yet. He will laugh then cough a few times after. For some reason he loves his diaper changer. We aren't sure what it is about the changer but he will grin, laugh, and play for quite awhile after a diaper change. Sometimes when he's fussy we take him to the changer just to change his mood around.
We took Ryan on his first weekend trip. We took him to Virginia to meet Jamie's grandmother and grandfather. Then we went on to West Virginia to see Jamie's Maw Maw and Paw Paw for the 4th of July. I won't lie, I was nervous about the car ride and his sleeping. He did excellent!!! He only fussed about 10 minutes total on the way up and about 15 minutes total on the way home. I couldn't believe it!
His sleeping went so much better than I expected too. We put him down around 9:30 each night and he wouldn't wake up until 5. I gave him a bottle each morning and he would sleep a few more hours. I certainly can't complain with that since he was in a strange place and not in his crib.
He had such a great time visiting with everyone and fishing with the family and seemed upset about leaving. I certainly hope our trip to New York later this summer will be just as successful.
Next weekend Ryan gets to meet more Great Grandparents. My grandparents and one of my aunts from New York will be down to visit. I can't wait for them to meet him.
Jamie set up a new slide show. There are some really good pictures in this set. For those of you who haven't seen him since the last slide show will really notice a difference. He looks like such a big boy! I wish we could have more grinning pictures but Ryan takes after me and is stubborn! He refuses to grin for the camera. He will grin and laugh until he spots the camera. As soon as the camera disappears he's back to grinning. We've even tried to sneak up on him but it's just not working. Hopefully he'll give up on this camera stubbornness and allow us to get some really adorable smiling pictures.
Enjoy the pictures in the slide show:
