Big Boy

Ryan has become such a big boy lately. He's growing way to fast and starting to look more and more like a little kid each day. We have begun a huge transition to a big boy room with a twin sized "big boy" bed. I've been very nervous the past few months anticipating his reaction to this adjustment. However, he has handled it much better than we expected. The first few nights were a little rough because he was unsure of his new surroundings. However, he quickly got settled in and loves his new bedroom. As soon as we get home from daycare he runs into his room shouting "Ryan's bedroom". I'll ask him if he likes it and he'll say, "Oh yeah!". Haha! I'm just relieved that he still wants to go to bed and walks in there on his own, hugs and kisses us goodnight, and settles in under the covers. It's the sweetest thing!

He also LOVES the book nook we set up in there. He now has a few book shelves and an over-sized bean bag in the middle. He grabs as many books as he can carry, snuggles up on his bean bag, and just reads and reads. I adore watching him look through his books and there are even a few that he can recite as he reads because he's heard them so many times.

Even though it was several weeks ago, I have to tell everyone about Ryan's first snow experience. We finally got a few inches of snow this winter and I was chomping at the bit to get Ryan out in it. I couldn't believe how much he loved it! He ran around shouting "snow, snow" and giggled the whole time. I felt like a kid again running around with him and rolling in the snow. It was one of those moments that will always be cherished. Sometimes the most simple things pull the heartstrings more than you realize. After the snow melted away, Ryan kept asking me where the snow is. I tried to explain to him that we hardly ever get snow so don't expect again it any time soon. It was obvious he didn't understand this conversation when he continued (for at least 3 weeks) to ask for snow every night as we pulled into the driveway. The poor kid. What a let down when every one of those nights I had to tell him there was no snow. :-(

Hopefully I will have time to update in a few more weeks to let you know how Ryan's first major week long vacation goes. We're taking him to Disney World during my Spring Break. I cannot wait to spend so much quality time with him and our families while watching him enjoy the happiest place on Earth! I'm crossing my fingers that he's not afraid of the characters and loves the rides as much as his parents!
